The Executive Council (172/5, 2025) of the Independent Church of India directed the Education Department to establish a new school in Sakawrdai, Aizawl District, Mizoram. In April 2025, the Board Chairman, Executive Secretary, Secretary, and Inspector of Schools visited the village and met with local leaders to discuss the establishment of the school, including the selection of a suitable site and other important arrangements.
As the Department desired to develop a proper campus for the school, it was decided that a temporary building would be constructed for the time being. In this regard, the Sakawrdai Vengpui Church graciously permitted the Education Department to further develop, build, and use part of their building complex near the main church. The Department expresses its sincere gratitude for this generous support.
Development and construction of the temporary school facility began immediately and was completed within a few months.
The school was formally inaugurated on December 10, 2025 by Rev. Dr. James R. Ruolngul, Secretary of the Education Department, in the presence of the Executive Secretary, the Chairman, and other members of the Board. The program was also attended by many church and village leaders, including the Village Council President and other community representatives.
On the same day, the Department was providentially led to a suitable site in Sakawrdai—an excellent location for a permanent school campus. After further enquiry, the owner agreed to sell the land, and the Department has now acquired the property. In the coming months, the land will be levelled and preparations will begin for constructing the permanent school building on this newly acquired site by the grace of God.
Standard English School, Sakawrdai is a fully English-medium school offering classes from Nursery to Class V. The school will begin its academic session on April 1, 2026. The institution is staffed with fully qualified teachers dedicated to providing quality education.
